Thoracic Spine CT Protocol
Coverage
Coverage depends on the indication. If the entire thoracic spine is required, please cover from the midpoint of C7 to the midpoint of L1. More typically, there is a specific issue, for example, a compression fracture. In which case, please cover from the midpoint of the most normal vertebral body above to the midpoint of the most normal vertebral body below.
Resolution
Please use the maximal resolution the scanner allows with sensible radiation dose considerations. Please reduce the radiation dose for children and if gonads and other radio-sensitive organs are to be included.
Reconstructions
Sagittal and coronal and 3D reconstructions.
IMPORTANT NOTE: If any additional non-orthogonal (angled) reconstructions are required, the correct angulation will be demonstrated in the images below. Please ensure these reconstructions are also performed in the indicated cases
